Speaking for a real purpose: Live interviews
Last week, Gonzalo Lerner, Phd student of Neuroscience at UBA, visited 5th form to talk about what his job consists of.
He showed us an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of his own brain and explained how some of the activities and tasks we do on a daily basis activate the different parts in our brain. This was a challenging topic which made 5th form students genuinely interested; they proved to understand a very technical explanation and even felt inspired by his passion and clarity.
Next, 5th form asked him questions they had prepared in advance and then Gonzalo in turn asked them questions about what they do and like.
It was an afternoon in which our students could become aware of their competence in the language and realised that their knowledge of English allows them to talk to anyone about anything!
Well-done, 5th form! Keep up the good work!
Thank you, Talo for your visit, and Becca for making it possible!
Who´s up for the next visit? Come and talk to us! We´ll be more than glad to welcome you!
